Approved Provider Standard
for Organisations Providing Intergenerational Projects or Programmes
The Approved Provider Standard (APS) is a UK benchmark for organisations providing intergenerational programmes. It has been designed and developed by the Centre for Intergenerational Practice (CIP) to provide a realistic and credible basis for assessing core practice by organisations of any size, and to take account of the rich diversity of intergenerational programmes.
Why Apply?
The APS gives organisations a quality management framework that is needed to monitor and improve on the delivery of your intergenerational programmes of work. It is a recognition of good practice and organisations receive certification, listing in the CIP Intergenerational Directory and the use of the Approved Intergenerational Provider logo (shown below).
Applying for APS
Application is through submission of a completed application form supported by appropriate documentary evidence. CIP will provide individual support to organisations throughout the process, which is free of charge. The cost of processing applications is £60 (£40 if annual turnover under £50,000). We advise organisations to contact us prior to submitting the application form: generations@bjf.org.uk or telephone 01782 844036.

As part of the resources to help practitioners set up intergenerational programmes the Centre provides a library of sample documents e.g. policies and procedures, project proposals, job descriptions etc. The intergenerational practice guide Intergenerational Programmes: An Introduction and Examples of Practice provides an excellent source of good practice guidelines and case studies.
If you have any queries or would like to receive support from CIP please contact Nasreen Akhtar: generations@bjf.org.uk or telephone 01782 844036
The list of approved organisations can be found in the Intergenerational Directory.
